ABOUT OUR ESSENCES

Generally, there are two kinds of perfumes sold in department stores: “eaux de toilette” and “eaux de parfum”. These famous designer fragrances contain various ingredients, made of about:
• 5% of multi syllable fillers such as ethylene glycol monophenyl ether,
• 15% of pure essence (also known as absolute), and
• 80% of ethyl alcohol (also known as ethanol or alcohol)

Essences are the scented ingredients that give perfumes and colognes their smell and are most known for their long lasting ability while also penetrating the pores and linger. The amount of essence used to make up a perfume will vary depending on its strength and the expected outcome of the creator of perfume, known as “nose”.


WHY DON'T THEY SELL PURE ESSENCES OR IN OTHER WORDS WHY DO THEY ADD SO MUCH ALCOHOL?
THE PURPOSE OF ALCOHOL
Alcohol has two main purposes:

• First, it serves as a carrier in perfumes, causing the essences to be released into the air, 10 or 15 times faster than they would without these carriers. It also gives the impression that the perfume is considerably stronger than it actually is. That is why, when you first put on a fragrance, the aroma is sometimes overpowering to you and those around you. It is also why the scent is almost all gone within one or two hours. The essence has evaporated along with the alcohol!.

• The second reason is just smart marketing: a big and fancy bottle containing an amount of essence plus 8 to 15 times that amount of alcohol seems like a much better value for your money than a smaller one of pure essence.

WHAT WOULD YOUR PERFUME BE WITHOUT ALCOHOL AND FILLERS?.

All of our essences are oil based and blended with 5% state of the art carrier oils like colorless jojoba oil or sweet almond oil to release the scent, without fixatives , or colorings of any kind. None are diluted.

Furthermore, our essences are formulated with components that have been approved by the fragrance regulating Research Institute for Fragrance Materials (RIFM) and those that are carefully reviewed by the IFRA (International Fragrance Association) Scientific Committee. Our essences comply with RIFM standards to ensure its premium quality and full benefits.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF OUR ESSENCES?• by using pure perfume essence there is no risk of allergies such as watery eyes, sneezing and stuffy nose which some people link to perfumes instead of the alcohol and others useless fillers contained in the perfume.

• they occupy only your own private space, giving you the choice to choose those who will catch a glimpse of it and draw them closer for another sniff.

• our perfume essences are a rich, rounded off and balanced mixture of aromas which blend onto your skin when it is applied, thus never offensive nor overpowered with alcohol that dries your natural body oils along with it.

• pure perfume essences last longer on the skin, to 24 hours, depending upon your “smell fingerprint” or body chemistry , skin type , and … season . But ethyl alcohol based perfume has to be applied every one to two hours because the essence has evaporated along with the alcohol.

• unlike perfume from department stores with the usual shelf-life of 6 to 18 months depending on the components and their quality, pure perfume essences retain their fragrance year after year.

For all these reasons, let us say “No to Alcohol”.

NEED MORE REASONS TO BAN ALCOHOL? • First, it does not smell nice at all and tends to kill off some of the nicest notes in many fragrances, which in pure form are truly delightful.

• Secondly, for your body, it is nothing but a poison. This is the cause of allergies to perfume.

• Finally, it is a drying agent, whose purpose is to help the perfume evaporate very quickly. Unfortunately for you, as the alcohol evaporates, it also takes away the fragrance and your own natural body oils along with it, drying your skin as it goes!

HOW FORMULAS ARE OBTAINED?.
Formulas for Designer perfumes are well-kept secrets but with a method of direct analysis such as gas-liquid chromatography, every individual chemical component in a perfume can be separated and then identified with the use of a mass spectrometer, making it possible to match a given perfume with the same or better aromas without alienating the Designer copyright.

ABOUT THE DESIGNER COPYRIGHT
Contrary to popular belief, perfumes are not the private property of the Designers, since courts have held that fragrances belong to nature and not to any individual, meaning that a perfume cannot be patented or copyrighted. Thus a manufacturer cannot prevent someone else from matching or improving upon any scent in whole or in part.
But of course, the brand name of a Designer perfume can be copyrighted or registered and others may not use that name to their profit. That is why we are so cautious to draw attention to the fact that WE DO NOT OFFER THE ORIGINALS. Instead we propose the "Essence of..." to indicate that our products are inspired by the work of these famous Designers, to make the difference clear and limpid.
